The Civil Engineering Teaching and Research Office was established in 1992. In 1994, it began to enroll undergraduates in the Industrial and Civil Architecture direction, and in 1999, it started to recruit undergraduates in the Transportation Civil Engineering direction. In 2000, the right to confer master's degrees in "Geotechnical Engineering" was obtained, and in 2011, the right to confer master's degrees in the first-level discipline of Civil Engineering was granted.

Since 2014, we have been collaborating with Leipzig University of Applied Sciences (HTWK Leipzig) in Germany on a joint international educational program for the "1+1" Master's degree in Structural Engineering. In 2017, we began admitting undergraduate international students.

Furthermore, the major in urban underground space was established in 2017 and was approved as a national first-class undergraduate program in 2019. Currently, the application for a doctoral program is underway.
